2. What Data We Collect
2.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Your full name
- Email address
- Password (stored securely and encrypted — we never see your actual password)
- Your golf handicap (self-declared)
2.2 Golf & Game Data
- Round scores (gross, nett, Stableford points) per hole
- Course names and dates of rounds played
- Club distances you enter into your bag setup
- League memberships and standings
- Guests added to a league by an organiser (name and handicap only)
2.3 Location Data (GPS)
When you use the GPS feature during a round, we access your device's location to calculate distances to the green. This is used only while you play. If you use shot-tracking, the positions of the shots you record are saved to your round so the smart caddie can learn your distances; otherwise your location is not stored.
2.4 Technical Data
We may collect basic technical information such as browser type and device type. We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising.
2.5 AI Features (optional)
If you use the AI coach or the scorecard-photo upload, the text and/or image you submit is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate the response or read the card. A photo of a group scorecard may contain other players' names and scores. These features are optional and run only when you choose to use them.
3. How We Use Your Data
- Create and manage your account
- Display league tables and standings to other members of your league
- Calculate Stableford points and scoring based on your handicap
- Generate AI-powered coaching tips and caddy recommendations using your round history
- Improve and maintain the App
Legal basis: Contract (to provide the service) and legitimate interests (to improve the App). Location data is processed with your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time via your device settings.
4. Who We Share Your Data With
4.1 Other League Members
Your name, handicap and scores are visible to other members of leagues you join. You control which leagues you join.
4.2 Third-Party Service Providers
- Supabase — Database and authentication. EU-based. Privacy policy
- Netlify — Web hosting. USA-based with EU SCCs in place. Privacy policy
- Anthropic — Powers the AI coach and scorecard-photo reading. Only the content you submit to those features (your round data, or a scorecard image) is sent, and only when you use them. USA-based. Privacy policy
- Resend — Sends account and password-reset emails. Privacy policy
- Sentry — Collects error diagnostics (which can include your user ID and device details) so we can fix problems. EU-based. Privacy policy
4.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your data if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests from public authorities.
5. Data Retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where required by law.

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. Database access is protected by Row Level Security policies.

FairwayLeague is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you by updating the date at the top. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
